Step 1: Print and cut Christmas Poinsettia flowers and leaves

Print the front and back side of the Christmas Poinsettia flower and leaf template designs . The back side has light colors since this is a 3D card. Choose the “print on both sides” option when you print, and select “flip over”. ( Not “flip up”)

Check out the video above if you are unsure of any steps. Cut the outline of each flower layer, and fold them along the dotted lines with the petal lines showing at top. The loose leaves are extras you can use at the end if you want. No need to cut them yet.

Cut the large shapes #1 through #5, fold and glue each piece as shown below.

Fold green leaf template #1 in half, matching the two tabs, fold in between the petals along the cut lines, glue the end part marked “1” to the end petal . Repeat with the rest of the flower pieces #2 – #5.

Step 2: Fold and glue flower layers

Once you have the nestling flower pieces ready, we are going to glue piece #1 through #4 together.

The key to this step is to carefully match the tip of each tab on each flower layer, and use just a dot of glue on each tab. I will show detailed photos. You can also watch the video tutorial above to follow along.

Place red flower layer #2 inside green leaf layer #1, fold the tabs of each layer so the end tips of the tabs matches. Glue the tabs of layer #1 to layer #2. Repeat with flower layers #3 and #4.

IMPORTANT: Once all the layers are glued together on these tabs, put a dot of glue between the back of the tabs on layer #1 and the back of layer #1 leaf petals, and press together. This will help the flower open to full size.

Step 3: assemble DIY pop up Christmas card

Print out the cover for our DIY pop up Christmas card. You can use either white card stock  or ivory card stock to print the cover. The ivory card stock makes the printable Christmas cards look more vintage.

Center the stack of flowers vertically inside the card, and line it up with the folded line. Put a dot of glue on the back of the tabs and press together the cover and the flower tab. Do this on the front and back cover. Check out the video above if you are unsure of this step.

Helpful tip: how to create a clean fold on your DIY pop up Christmas card

After you print the designs on card stock, you will see a subtle dotted line in the middle of the page.

Take a butter knife or a dried ball point pen, place a rigid ruler or straight edge next to the dotted line, and create a score line on the card stock.

This will help you create a very clean fold.

  1. Hi there. Thank you so much for all of your great templates, I’m excited to try them!
I am just wondering if there’s an svg file for this poinsettia pop up card to cut it with the cricut maker? Thanks 😊

    • thank you Holly! some of our earlier templates might not have svg file, but there are lots of free online converters that covert pdf to svg! 🙂

      • No, the links just lead me on a trail, and never (even though I’ve subscribed) get me to the actual download link, and I’ve written before to ask, and received no response. I have just kept coming back, because I enjoy looking at them.
