Nature Distilled – Portland Japanese Garden

apieceofrainbow8-12wapieceofrainbow8-5wA walk through the Portand Japanese Garden is a walk through poetry. Being honored as second place out of 300 public Japanese gardens outside of Japan for highest quality, this little 5.5 acre gem is truly an inspiring place to visit.apieceofrainbow8-1wapieceofrainbow8-11wapieceofrainbow8-19w
Words often fail to describe that deep sense of peace and harmony when we are at one with nature. So for this post, I feel the best way to take you along the journey is by weaving our photos with some beautiful haiku poems from history. It also gives me a perfect opportunity to study a little bit of haiku – something I have always been curious about. apieceofrainbow8-24wapieceofrainbow8-18wThe spring day,

apieceofrainbow8-23wapieceofrainbow8-25wapieceofrainbow8-21wHope you enjoyed part 2 of our Portland trip! We came home with this little sculpture of Jizo – an enlightened being. His smile will always remind us of our journey through this little garden of paradise,  through the ‘mountains and rivers’,  the moss covered rocks, and the clouds of cherry blossoms.

  1. Hi Ananda!
I have a confession to make: I am not a DIY person, but your blog is about to change this! I find your posts so beautifully curated, it is inspiring. And this walk through the garden is just blissful… I am going to hop over to your latest post because your pictures captured all my attention! Have a great week 🙂

    • Thank you dear friend! I always loved looking at how others make things, and finally jumped in and started making things – it is really fun & rewarding. Look forward to see your DIY, I’m sure will be beautiful !

  2. Your pictures just make me want to relax. I love the tall moss covered rock – it looks like a statue – was it? Your little stone souvenir is so cute, I’m not sure I could talk my husband into bringing him home on the plane.

    • thank you ashley! =) we visit gardens everywhere we travel! well, hubby happily comes along =)

  3. Hello,
I love the photos! They really do capture that sense of tranquility and peace! I think that’s why I really love yoga, because it just connects you with yourself and your surroundings. And taking pictures also makes you more appreciative of those beautiful things you see or those small things, you wouldn’t be aware of unless you’re searching. Love it!
